We received an overwhelming response from our members last month when we surveyed you on the university leadership’s abrupt decision to drop classroom mask protections.
As we outline in our open letter to UMD leadership, we believe this decision to be out of step with the science and the practice of other local universities, plus it is callous in its disregard for the health of our community members who have underlying health conditions or have household members who do.
We are calling for the university to work with instructors and students to develop a more comprehensive and compassionate plan for protecting all our community members.
We want to ask you to help us by taking two actions:
1) Please let university leadership know where you stand by signing onto our open letter.
2) Help us get more UMD community members to sign onto our open letter by forwarding this email to any UMD community listservs that you are a part of.
